CELEBRATING OUR DISTINCT AND SHARED EXPERIENCES
“The Riverside Art Museum strives to integrate art into the lives of people in a way that engages, inspires, and builds community by presenting thought-provoking exhibits and providing quality art classes that instill a lifelong love of the arts.”
The first iteration of this celebration of all art Chicano is in the early planning stage. There will be performances, exhibitions, and public art installations that coincide with the opening of The Cheech.
By creating opportunities for creativity, participation, and dialogue between artists, community partners, and civic groups, this program is a catalyst for networking, professional development, and exposure to a broader diverse audience via exhibitions and more.
Academic Resource Center
This will provide opportunities for scholars, graduate students, and researchers to engage with The Cheech, its collection, and programs to further deepen scholarship around Chicano art.
K–6th Art Education
Art-to-Go brings art lessons linked to California standards to most Pre-K – 6th-grade classes in the Riverside Unified School District. The Cheech collection will be the focus of these lessons, creating deeper understanding and connection for elementary-age students to the themes and content of the artwork.
Walk and Wonder Program
Museum tours at RAM welcome students from all backgrounds to what is often their first museum experience. After exploring exhibitions, students create a related hands-on art project to take home and share with their families. Other on-site programs include all-day summer camps, afternoon classes, programs for home schools, and classes for pre-school students. Scholarships are given to students to expand access to these programs.
For visitors of all ages, Spanish and English docent tours will be available. Our Play the Museum program provides activity centers on site to encourage people to engage with art and talk to each other. Visitors can also check out ARTVenture Packs – a fun activity for families to do together!
General admission for children under 12 is free. RAM also offers free admission to military personnel and their families. And, as part of our participation in the Museums for All Program, people holding EBT cards receive discounted admission ($1 per person) for up to 4 people.
The Riverside Art Museum (RAM) presents exhibitions that showcase a diversity of artistic expression, celebrate extraordinary creativity, and offer points of view designed to inspire and engage the community. The art museum looks for artists and collections that have fantastic connections to the region. RAM also exhibits work from its permanent collection, which has been described as “a survey collection, one that provides its audience a sweeping glimpse of the history of art,” as well as work by emerging artists.
